6 years after the final edition of St Andrews Magazine was published online, The Magazine from SHANK Media is to return, with a new name, new format and will be the fulfilment of the original vision from 2012.

12 years ago I came up with the idea for the magazine, bringing together the different facets of the sport and industry within St Andrews, for one reason and another the content drifted, lost focus and became too broad, and the magazine became a demand on my time I could never justify. Now, THIS IS GOLF, will be exactly that, GOLF and nothing else, but with the aim of fulfilling its original vision.
St Andrews has golf courses, THIS IS GOLF will review golf courses.
St Andrews has golf clubs, THIS IS GOLF will feature golf clubs and clubhouses.
St Andrews is home to the history of the sport, THIS IS GOLF will have original features on the rich history of the sport.
St Andrews is home to many different PGA Professionals, THIS IS GOLF will have a lesson feature.
St Andrews is the number one golf holiday destination on earth, THIS IS GOLF will have features on destinations for golf holidays.
St Andrews is home to elite amateur events including the St Andrews Links Collegiate, St Andrews Links Trophy and St Rule Trophy, THIS IS GOLF will cover elite amateur golf.
St Andrews is home to the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, The Open, AIG Women's Open and other professional tournaments, THIS IS GOLF will cover the professional tours.
THIS IS GOLF, however, will not be all about St Andrews. The previous iteration of the magazine was too narrow in its focus on St Andrews, but too broad in the content it offered, resulting in several editions of 200 pages or more. THIS IS GOLF will be limited to 72 pages, the same number as the par of the Old Course. The previous editions of the magazine were also free, due to the obsession with attracting paying advertisers, in 2024, unless you are backed by a huge publishing house, advertising is dead. So THIS IS GOLF will be available to purchase, as a download from MagCloud at an affordable price for all, to be confirmed at a later date. So its success is totally down to the number of sales.
