1845 BST UNDISPUTED. A weekend for the ages. SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER IS THE CHAMPION GOLFER OF THE YEAR, OLEKSANDR USYK IS THE UNDISPUTED HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD.

1837 BST Scheffler finds the heart of the 72nd green, and he has a putt to post 18-under-par for The Open, and secure a five-stroke win. He receives a rapturous welcome to the green from the Irish fans.

1830 BST Scheffler splits the 18th fairway and the Claret Jug is his.

1821 BST Rory boards the 72nd tee and he is sure of a rapturous welcome as he closes his Open Championship. A season he will never forget, and one which has cemented his name into the history of the sport.

1806 BST It is a par at the 16th for Scheffler and he is now set for a coronation over the final two holes at Royal Portrush.

1758 BST Fitzpatrick rolls in a birdie putt from across the 16th green to reach -10 once again, Scheffler waits on the tee, and this is the last potential stumbling block for the champion-elect. McIlroy makes up and down to remain 10-under.

1750 BST McIlroy birdies the 15th to reach to 10-under and move into a tie for fifth place, it is set to be an 8th top-10 finish at The Open, and 33rd Major top-10.

1741 BST Wyndham Clark shoots 11-under for the championship, and he sets the clubhouse target, although surely it will not be enough.

1722 BST Scheffler stripes a 7-iron to inside 10 feet at the 13th and he could reach -18, and be within 2 shots of equalling Henrik Stenson's record-low score in relation to par for The Open.

1718 BST Six holes remain and Scheffler leads by 5, I think he has this don't you?

1711 BST Chris Gotterup moves to -12 with a birdie at the 13th and is in second place.

1701 BST Haotong Li rolls in a stunner at the 11th to reach -11 and cuts the deficit to 5.

1656 BST The atmosphere at Royal Portrush is now subdued.

1647 BST Scheffler makes par at the 10th and he leads by six with 8 holes to play.

1638 BST A catastrophic championship-ending double-bogey for McIlroy at the 10th. Caught a flier with his second after missing yet another fairway off the tee. He is now 8 back with 8 to play and it will not be a sixth major title for The Masters Champion.

1633 BST Scheffler birdies the 9th hole and as we begin the final nine holes of the 153rd Open the World Number One leads by 5 shots. Paul Lawrie was six shots behind Jean Van de Velde through 9 holes of the final round in 1999. Scottie Scheffler is not Jean Van de Velde. It is over, surely.

1619 BST SCHEFFLER MAKES DOUBLE-BOGEY AT THE 8TH HOLE, A LEAD WHICH WAS 7 JUST MINUTES AGO IS NOW 4

1614 BST Scheffler smashes his second at the eighth into the face of the bunker and will struggle to make bogey, could the door be ajar for someone else? Gotterup moves to 11-under, and McIlroy unleashes an incredible drive on the 9th to around 50 yards from the green.

1604 BST Another staggering up and down from Scheffler, in the hands of anyone else he could have opened the door for the chasing pack, but he hasn't.

1558 BST When Scottie Scheffler lifts the Claret Jug in 3 and a half hours time he will become the first EVER golfer to have the opportunity to complete the GOLDEN GRAND SLAM in Golf.

He will have two Green Jackets, One Wanamaker Trophy, One Claret Jug and One Olympic Gold. Next May at Shinnecock in New York he will have the chance to win it all.

1556 BST Birdie for Rory at the seventh hole, moves to 10-under, and 7 back.

1551 BST Utterly fantastic up and down from Scheffler at the sixth hole, and he pumps his fist. You can see the desire he has to win this, and win it by a big margin. Speaking to Sky, Bryson says "he was good in college, but not this good".

1540 BST BRYSON DECHAMBEAU BIRDIES THE 72ND HOLE TO POST 9-UNDER-PAR FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP, and incredibly he is currently tied for third place after starting with a 78. A final round of 64 for the LIV Golf star.

1539 BST Li birdies the fourth to reach -10.

1537 BST Scottie Scheffler rolls in a 10-footer at the fourth and this is now ridiculous, the World Number One is 17-under and leads by 8 shots.

1530 BST Rory birdies the fourth hole, he probably needs 10 birdies between now and the house to have any chance, he is 7 off the lead, tied for second place with Fitzpatrick, Li, Gotterup and English.

1521 BST This is a chastening experience for the chasing pack. Scottie Scheffler extends his lead to SEVEN Shots through four holes. GAME OVER. And The Champion Golfer of the Year is.... almost certainly Scottie Scheffler.

1512 BST McIlroy two-putts for bogey and falls SEVEN back of Scheffler. It will take a miracle if the Northern Irishman is to win a second Open Championship.

1507 BST Hatton falls further back with bogey at the fifth, now 8 behind. McIlroy flails his approach to the fourth well right and will face an awkward up and down when he should have been looking at birdie here.

1501 BST Rory drives beautifully at the fourth and has a great angle for his second shot on this tough par four.

1456 BST Bryson DeChambeau has produced a quite remarkable comeback to move from +7 to -8 for the championship, and he is now inside the top 10. Meanwhile, Haotong Li bogeys the 2nd hole, and Scheffler now leads by FIVE.

1448 BST McIlroy plays a delightful two-putt to secure a first birdie of the round and moves to 9-under, 6 shots adrift of the World Number One. Rory and the rest need Scheffler to stumble, and it just doesn't look likely. The weather is picture perfect.

1443 BST McIlroy is pin high in two shots at the par-five second, but will have a scary little pitch towards the flag, he simply must get up and down if he is to get his title bid going.

1438 BST We are fully underway in the final round of the 153rd Open, and China's Haotong Li has played a stunning high fade into the first green and immediately will have a birdie chance, but Scheffler responds with a magnificent approaching, using the contours to set up a certain birdie. The World Number One will move to -15 and 7 clear of Rory, 4 clear of Li.

Golf could have three phenomenal storylines at Royal Portrush on Sunday. Haotong Li could become the first ever male Major winner from China, Matt Fitzpatrick could become the first English winner of The Open since Faldo in 1992, and Rory McIlroy could win his 6th Major title, in front of his fans in his home country.

OR

Scottie Scheffler, as expected, could waltz to victory, claiming a fourth major title and a third leg of the career grand slam.
