A large crowd of locals, visitors, spectators at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship and some of the world's golfing media gathered across from the Royal and Ancient Clubhouse to witness the long-awaited statue of Tom Morris be unveiled. The memorial sculpture of the four-time Open Champion was created by local sculptor David Annand, and delicately put into place on Monday morning before being covered ready for today's event.
The Old Tom Statue Project included a team of local golfers, officials, club members including Ronald Sandford, David Sandford, the Sculptor David Annand, Provost of St Andrews Callum McLeod, Golf historian Roger McStravick, Chic Harper, Allan Peden, Athole Reid and David Strachan.
